καὶ ἴδεν ὅτι ἐξέλειπεν τὸ ἀργύριον ἀπὸ τῶν θησαυρῶν· καὶ οἱ φόροι τῆς χώρας ὀλίγοι χάριν τῆς διχοστασίας καὶ πληγῆς ἧς κατεσκεύασεν ἐν τῇ γῆ. τοῦ ἆραι τὰ νόμιμα ἃ ἦσαν ἀφ᾿ ἡνερῶν τῶν πρώτων.

And he saw that the silver from the treasuries had ceased, and the taxes of the land were few because of the division and calamity which he had brought upon the land, in order to abolish the laws which had existed from the earliest times.
