Καὶ ἀνέστη Ἔσδρας ἀπὸ προσώπου οἴκου τοῦ Θεοῦ, καὶ ἐπορεύθη εἰς γαζοφυλάκιον Ἰωανὰν υἱοῦ Ἐλισοὺβ, και ἐπορεύθη ἐκεῖ· ἄρτον οὐκ ἔφαγε, καὶ ὕδωρ οὐκ ἔπιεν, ὅτι ἐπένθει ἐπὶ τῇ ἀσυνθεσίᾳ τῆς ἀποικίας.

And Ezra arose from the face of the house of God, and went into the treasury of Johanan son of Eliashib, and went there; he ate no bread, and he drank no water, because he mourned over the unfaithfulness of the exile.
