Καὶ ἐγενήθη καὶ ἐπεὶ κατίσχυσαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰσραὴλ, καὶ ἐποίησαν τοὺς Χαναναίους ὑπηκόους, ἐξολοθρεῦσαι δὲ αὐτοὺς οὐκ ἐξωλόθρευσαν.

And it happened that since the sons of Israel prevailed, they made the Canaanites subjects, but they did not utterly destroy them.
